I would not be bothered with meta tags, you need a traffic right? Create a free report and torrent it out at prime time drives a number of visitors to my site for the next 3 days quickly plus they now have a report filled with my links sitting on their computer that might spread to other computers when they give it away. Viral methods are what gain me the most traffic not this overdrawn out SEO. SEO plays a big part but requires alot of work.
Blogspots by their very nature have a variety of content, that is not easy to scope into a particular set of keywords or metatag entries. SEO may not work for you.

Use metatags for your target keywords, but you still need the right keywords.
Wrong keywords = no traffic + wasted time
Why go through all of that??? Google has released some new tools, which are FREE, that you can use to get targeted (REALLY targeted) traffic and backlinks.
Google does all the work for you and delivers the results right to your email inbox. It takes a bit of time, but not too much, and delivers immediate results, like within 15 minutes compared to the 2 hours it takes me to write a killer article for ezines. It also works for any and every niche.
Google knows where all of your customers are hanging out online… why not let Google tell you where they are? !

SuperCac has got it right. Meta tags do not mean much anymore. Certain ones are important like every page should have a relevant title tag.
The meta description is important, not for search engine ranking, but for getting click throughs to your site.
Your meta title, and your meta description should read much like a good advertisement. The title should be compelling and relevant, and the description should be leading, and leave the reader hungry for more. Why? Because this is what will appear in the search engine listings. Get it?
